EXPERIENCE

Xavier Lavoipierre has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation for over 25 years, handling a wide range of matters including employment (the focus of his law practice), real estate, landlord-tenant, construction, personal injury, toxic waste, general business disputes and appeals. Mr. Lavoipierre has tried cases in Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco, Contra Costa and Solano counties, and has been involved in hundreds of trials, mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences and administrative hearings as an advocate, decision maker and neutral.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

A 1987 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, Mr. Lavoipierre was actively and successfully involved in the law school moot court program, earning the title of Outstanding Advocate in the First-Year Moot Court Competition, competing on the Moot Court Team, and serving as a member of the Moot Court Board. He was also the executive editor of the University of Oregon School of Law’s Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation.

Mr. Lavoipierre received his mediation certificate through Ron Kelly’s “Mediation Skills Training” (offered by the Bar Association of San Francisco). With the firm belief that he can always learn something new, Mr. Lavoipierre attends additional training courses and seminars to further advance his mediation skills and knowledge.

BACKGROUND

Mr. Lavoipierre was born in Liverpool, England, and emigrated to California soon thereafter. As a child Mr. Lavoipierre lived in France and Singapore for several years, and takes every opportunity he can to travel to places near and far. He enjoys spending time with his wife, bicycling, skiing, and collecting and tasting wines from around the world.
